· 150th Anniversary of the Unification of Italy, within a context of budget cuts: “Yes, I agree with that God save Italy… I have already lived my life, I am not 30. As an Italian who travels around the world, I am very saddened by what it is happening. I will repeat this Hasten, thoughts -by popular request- not only because of patriotic reasons, but because while the choir was singing O, my homeland, so beautiful and lost!, I have thought that if we kill the culture on which the history of Italy is based, our homeland will truly be beautiful and lost. Since we are in a very Italian atmosphere and since I have broken a silence maintained for years, let us do an exception. We are at home (at the Theatre of Rome) and the choir has masterfully performed, accompanied by this great orchestra. Let us take a broader sense to the music and let us sing all together. But, pay attention!”
Yo ya he hecho mi vida, no tengo 30 años.
